DH Clean Up day – June 22, 2025

June 5, 2025

The membership grounds cleanup day is back by popular demand! We’re looking for help on Sunday, June 22, starting at 8:30 AM (to get ahead of the heat) and going until 2 PM. For 2025 we’ve added a major improvement: in addition to one free guest pass per family for each hour worked, DH will be providing our volunteers coffee and munchies in the morning, plus burgers and hot dogs for lunch! Please sign up at DH Clean up Signup so we have an idea of how many folks to expect so we can plan accordingly.

The grounds team is also working on improving our beds with native plants and other perennials. If you have any strays or need to thin out your own beds, feel free to bring a few green friends with you. We also still have free mulch available for pickup in the parking lot!!

Work we’ll be helping each other with includes:

  • Installing 4 crepe myrtles in the pots on our community room patio.
  • Weeding our beds
  • Installing a timed irrigation system to our deck pots.
  • Removing ivy from trees and shrubs
  • Tree trimming and pruning
  • Poison ivy spraying and removal (if you’re not allergic)
  • Shrub trimming in our front lawn and above the parking wall
  • Debris removal
  • Vine removal
  • Some invasive plant removal as well

We recommend gloves, long pants, and a long sleeve shirt to avoid scratches and PI.

Things you might bring, based on what you’d like to help with:

  • Gloves & eye protection
  • Pole saw / tree saw
  • Shovel
  • loppers
  • Plant clippers or scissors
  • Hedge trimmers (powered or manual)
  • Blowers
  • Rakes
  • Hats and sunscreen
  • Water bottles and snacks!
  • A fun attitude!
