Make a Difference – Join the DH Board!

DHARA Members,

This summer the pool took a huge leap forward to normalcy and summer fun! We reenergized through movie nights, kids nights, ice cream socials, holiday picnics, and swim and dive meets (Go Thunder Ducks)! We were also able to introduce new fun to the pool. The Quack Shack was a huge success and led to a national shortage of Choco Tacos. The first annual Luau was a smash hit, followed by another tremendous Oktoberfest dinner. Music rocked the pool. Parking lot lines and grimy walls were painted. Towel hooks adorned fences. Many of these ideas were introduced through member participation and volunteerism. While there are many ways to contribute to the pool, one great way to volunteer and effect change is to join the board!

If you are interested in getting more involved at DH and have a desire to help with the decision-making processes that enable the fun, safe, and memorable experiences to happen for our members, now is your chance.

The DHARA Nominating Committee is currently looking for candidates to stand for election as a member of the Board of Directors for the next 3 years. Any interested member should send their expression of interest with a photo and short biography to Dave Messman at [email protected] or Matt Bachrack at [email protected] no later than close of business December 17, 2022.

Expectations include:

  • 3 years of service
  • Attendance at all monthly board meetings
  • Leadership of one committee and membership in another are minimum expectations, and time commitment to these committees
  • Responsive to all membership inquiries and comments
  • Understand the safety and financial implications of major decisions that impact the membership

The full membership will have the opportunity to vote for candidates in the new year, leading up to the Annual Membership Meeting on February 1, 2023.

More fun with Paint!
John and his team have started work re-painting the lines in the parking lot. This should greatly increase our ability to pack in cars during hot summer days and Thunder Duck swim and dive meets!

Which leads us to…Idea Portal
https://dominionhills.org/membership/dh-idea-portal/
The board appreciates all the suggestions submitted to the Idea Portal to date.  Please know that while we have not been able to respond to each idea individually, the board does review them on a regular basis to determine which ones can be addressed immediately vs. those to be considered in the context of the pool’s long-term planning process.  Additionally, we will try to answer frequently asked questions to provide any helpful background as it may pertain to specific suggestions or ideas.
